Dear Readers, it has been a while. A contribution of mine on a possible way of modeling the trend of the pandemic appeared online roughly a month ago.

A couple days ago, an interview I had done earlier in the month appeared on two websites. This is very flattering, and was extremely happy about reading it like I were not involved at all. It is in Italian, but Google should be able to translate it well enough.

There is a similar concept in particle physics. It is the parton distribution function.

Essentially, a UPC event, shown here, probes the gluons inside the target. The whole thing is very complicated to explain, but basically, more or less just “counting” the *vector mesons* coming out of the interaction allows for a measurement of the required *gluon pdf*… Or at least, that is the aim actually. Huge advancements have been made in recent times. It really can be said that we are exploring the *energy frontier of photon colliders*! Good times to be alive.
